In his opening monologue tonight, Sean Hannity said the "alt-left, propaganda media" is going "all-in" on what he called a "massive conspiracy theory" about Russian meddling in the Trump campaign.

Reacting to Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusing himself from any federal probes into the matter, Hannity said Sessions' decision was caused by pressure from a "massive smear campaign" to damage any Trump surrogate or cabinet member.

Hannity said it was not out of the ordinary for Sessions, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, to engage with foreign officials.

Hannity asked why there was not similar outcry from the left when former President Bill Clinton met with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a Phoenix tarmac in the midst of Lynch's department's investigation of Hillary Clinton.

"Lynch never recused herself," Hannity said, adding that the left is "going ballistic about Russian election influence without any evidence."

He also pointed to allegations that the Obama administration used State Department grant money to fund a political apparatus in Israel that unsuccessfully tried to defeat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his last election.
