It's always good to have a kid around when something gets stuck in a hard to reach place.

Such was the case during the first half of Tuesday night's NCAA basketball game between Boise State and Fresno State.

An errant shot bounced over the backboard and got lodged underneath the shot clock.

Futile attempts by a few players -- including throwing another ball at the lodged ball and trying to pry it loose with a mop stick -- were unsuccessful.

Then emerging from the crowd was young Hunter Hales, who with a boost from several players climbed up the backboard and was able to grab the ball and throw it down, allowing the game to resume.

Afterwards, CBS Sports interviewed Hunter about his game-saving performance.
