Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Monday that President Trump "botched" the implementation of his executive order curtailing immigration and travel from several Muslim-majority nations.

"You have to have a policy that you vetted before you loose it on the world in the most amateurish, botched way," he told Bill O'Reilly.

Krauthammer said Trump should've had the foresight to offer guidance to customs officials on how to handle travelers already holding green cards and those en route when the order was enacted.

Trump is correct to desire a strengthened immigrant vetting process, but is also "antagonizing" ordinary Americans who support stricter procedures by implementing such a broad order, he said.

"[He] did it in a terrible way," Krauthammer said.
