Hours before he officially becomes the 45th president of the United States, President-elect Donald Trump spoke at the "Make America Great Again" welcome celebration on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall.

"This journey began 18 months ago," Trump said to the thousands in attendance. "I had something to do with it, but you had much more to do with it than I did. I'm the messenger."

He said the American people wanted "real change" and that's what he's prepared to bring as the next commander-in-chief.

Trump said that he's going to be a president for all Americans, and he's committed to getting the country back on track.

"They forgot about a lot of us ... the forgotten man and the forgotten woman," Trump said. "You're not forgotten anymore."

"We are going to make America great again - and, I'll add, greater than ever before!"
