This afternoon, Florida Gov. Rick Scott gave a press conference on the shooting at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, which left five people dead and eight injured.

"My heart goes out to every family impacted, the families that lost their loved ones, and the families and individuals who have loved ones still in a hospital fighting for their life," Scott said.

He said that his number one priority now and moving forward is to keep everybody in the city of Fort Lauderdale and the state of Florida safe.

Scott said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and law enforcement will be releasing further details in due time.

"Whoever is responsible will be held accountable to the full extent of the law," Scott said. "The state of Florida, the citizens of Florida, law enforcement in this state will not tolerate evil acts."
