The key to American health care will not come from Washington D.C., said Dr. Mehmet Oz this morning on "Fox & Friends."

He was asked about the looming battle on Capitol Hill as the new Congress and administration begin to eye the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.

Oz was asked about the split among doctors on how to set up a health care system that works for Americans and is affordable.

He explained that the "battle" to make America healthier starts in the homes of average Americans.

"People in Washington can fight about how they're going to pay the bills. But we actually have to reduce the overall bill. ...The battle for health is won in our bedrooms, in our kitchens, and in our living rooms. That's how America gets healthier," he said.

Oz said technological breakthroughs on artificial intelligence will be a big factor. He cited new technologies or apps that can detect stress in the voice, help people sleep better and help people make healthy eating choices.
