After Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election, the left is demanding that the electoral college system be scrapped, Bill O'Reilly said in his Talking Points Memo.

The "hidden reason" for this, he said, is centered around race in America.

Without the electoral college system, candidates would only need to campaign and receive votes from people in large urban areas and population centers, like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston.

The Democratic left feels white working-class voters must be marginalized, O'Reilly said, which is why they want to center voting power in the more "diverse" cities.

"The left sees 'white privilege' as an oppressive force," he said.

The electoral system was established in 1787 by the framers of the Constitution, prior to the first three states, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey ratifying the document that year.
