Many of President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet picks have been criticized, but perhaps none more so than his appointment for secretary of state, ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson.

Fred Krupp, president of the Environmental Defense Fund, believes Tillerson is a sign that Trump is putting the interests of the oil and gas industry ahead of the interests of the American people.

Tonight, Tucker Carlson confronted Krupp over his "knee-jerk," "dishonest" response to the nomination of Tillerson.

Krupp said that Tillerson is one of several troubling cabinet picks, including Rick Perry as energy secretary and Scott Pruitt as EPA chief.

He argued that the cabinet is "way out of balance" on environmental issues.

Carlson pressed Krupp to defend his charge that Tillerson's appointment proves Trump is putting the oil industry ahead of America.

He said it's "dishonest" for Krupp to go after Tillerson, since the ExxonMobil CEO has been on the "Democratic side" of numerous climate issues, including supporting a carbon tax and the Paris Agreement.
