A 19-year-old Baruch College student was arrested at Trump Tower Monday for attempting to bring weapons into the building, police said.
The New York Daily News reported that Alexander Wang, a finance major at Baruch, was found by Secret Service members carrying a hunting knife and a powerful firework in his backpack as he went through a security checkpoint.
The complete contents of the backpack included the hunting knife, M-100 firework, a Swiss Army knife, a flashlight, handcuffs, an eight-foot black rope, a clear water gun, a laptop and a garrote, a wire typically used to strangle someone.
According to sources, Wang told investigators he had carried the same bag and its content into Trump Tower "10 or so times" without any incident. He also said he had more explosives in his dorm room, which a search confirmed.
Wang, who reportedly told police he is a supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and likes to study in Trump Tower, was arrested for unlawful possession of fireworks and two counts of weapons possession.
