19 More Electors Join Letter Calling for Intel Brief on Russian Involvement
Nineteen more electoral college electors-- all of them Democrats-- echoed calls by former Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and others to request an intelligence briefing focused on whether Russia influenced this year's election.
The new names bring the total number of electors calling for such a meeting to 29, the New York Daily News reported.
Those 19 electors join ten others on an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, calling for a briefing on whether any Russian entities had interfered in the election.
The new slate of electors includes Democrats from states won by Hillary Clinton, notably including New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito (D-East Harlem).
Another top name on the original list of ten is Christine Pelosi, daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
"Separate from Mr. Trump’s own denials of Russian involvement in the election, the confirmed communication between Trump’s aides and those associated with the Russian election interference activity raise serious concerns that must be addressed before we cast our votes," the electors wrote to Clapper, according to Politico.
