Many in the mainstream media have been critical of President-elect Donald Trump's choices as he fills out his administration.

On MSNBC Sunday morning, Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin characterized his picks as "ignoramuses, billionaires and a few generals."

Tucker Carlson said that Rubin and many in the media are simply "name-calling" instead of addressing specific policies.

He said that he believes every Trump administration candidate should be vetted by a robust, smart and independent press, but that's not what's happening.

"Tell me what you think is wrong with Rex Tillerson or whomever, but to just dismiss out of hand those people without addressing what they think is not an effective way to do that," Carlson explained.

"And it just shows the kind of intellectual laziness and rot that has set in in Washington."

Tune in to "Tucker Carlson" tonight Monday to Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel, and check out the latest updates on the Trump transition!
