On the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, two American flags were burned outside neighboring gymnasiums in Bakersfield, California.

Dicky Mulyana, the owner of one of the gyms, said the flag burning must have happened between him leaving at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and showing up at 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Both gym owners have defended the flag and what it stands for.

"America is the best place," Mulyana told KBFX Eyewitness News in Bakersfield. "Whether you want to accept that or not, it's got so much freedom, so much opportunity."

"Go somewhere else for a couple of months, and with the rights you have there, you'll be happy to come back here," said Neal Lyday, the other gym's, who owner who shared the following Facebook post.

New American flags were hung immediately, and police are trying to track down a suspect.
