Tonight, on Brit Hume's final night hosting On The Record, the veteran journalist thanked viewers and the show's staff for making the program such a success.

"I'm deeply grateful to all of you who stayed with us throughout this transition," Hume said.

Some of Hume's viewers also wished him well as he signed-off from the 7 p.m. ET broadcast:

"Great style and no-nonsense reporting go hand-in-hand. Cheers to retirement," one viewer said.

"Have a Coke, smile and play golf," another said.

Hume said he will be resuming his role as Fox News senior political analyst as On The Record draws to a close.

Starting on Monday November 14, Tucker Carlson will take Hume's spot at 7 o'clock, to host a brand-new program, Tucker Carlson Tonight.

We wish Brit all the best going forward!
