Fr. Morris: Hillary Aides 'Want to Line Up Catholic Church with Dem Platform'
FAIR AND BALANCED... Don't miss the final presidential debate, moderated by Fox News' Chris Wallace, on Wednesday, October 19th at 9:00pm ET on Fox News Channel!
Recent WikiLeaks emails showed that a progressive think tank executive was in contact with Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, about "planting the seeds" of a "Catholic Spring"-- a revolution within the Catholic Church to press the church to align more with the left wing of the Democratic party.
"There needs to be a Catholic Spring," Sandy Newman, of Voices For Progress, wrote to Podesta, "in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a Middle Ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality."
Newman then asks Podesta who should, and how to, start such "revolution."
Father Jonathan Morris, a Catholic priest at a Bronx, N.Y. church and a Fox News contributor, said on Fox & Friends that Podesta replied in agreement with Newman and said he had already made some attempts to do so.
"We created these organizations called Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good; Catholics United--sounds very Catholic, except for what they want to do," Fr. Morris said, paraphrasing Podesta, the founder of the Center For American Progress.
"They want to line up the Catholic Church and its teachings with the Democratic platform--they want to make the Catholic Church in line with their political purposes."
Father Morris, who said he has also been critical of Donald Trump, warned that people of faith should be "very straightfoward about the type of people Hillary Clinton has chose to put around her."
