Chris Stirewalt thinks that Donald Trump supporters should be quite happy with their candidate's performance in the second presidential debate.

"What Donald Trump did here at Washington University last night was say to his core group of supporters - that same 40 percent of the Republican Party that carried him on to the nomination ... 'We are going to fight. We're going to say all the things we're not supposed to say," Stirewalt said.

He said it was a "dream debate" for Trump's core supporters who wanted to see him really attack Hillary Clinton "with as much savagery as he could muster."

"He delivered on that. They're going to rally behind him."
