A 102-year-old St. Louis woman was taken into custody by local police, but it was only so she could cross off "getting arrested" from her bucket list.

After the unusual request, officers arrived Friday - sirens blaring - at the Five Star Senior Center to "apprehend" Edie Simms.

"Handcuffs and all," said Simms, after she was taken in the back of a police cruiser "downtown."

Local police were happy to help, saying they like doing events with local seniors even more than the seniors do.

When Simms arrived, she handed out some free socks and scarves.

Simms, who stitched 413 handmade items for others at her senior center last year, had some advice for others about making a bucket list.

"Keep going, don't ever stop whatever it is you're doing and spend some time doing community service. ... Its a great world if you just open your eyes and look at it," she said.
