Firefighters battling a blaze in Aurora, Colorado, on Sunday received some "help" from an unexpected source.

Six-year-old Reily Doi wants to be a firefighter when he grows up, so when he saw smoke a few blocks away from his house, he jumped into action.

Reily put on the firefighter costume he wore for Halloween several years ago, got his mom to drive him to the fire and offered to help firefighters.

Photos taken by Aurora News 1's Shane Anthony show members of the Aurora Fire Department consulting with the young first responder.

Reily told Anthony he'd met firefighters before but said, "This is my first time to a real fire!"

Anthony said a police officer at the scene gave Reily an honorary police badge.
