A teenage American markswoman beat two Chinese competitors to win the first gold medal in the Rio Summer Games. She placed first in the 10-meter air rifle competition.
19-year-old Ginny Thrasher is a Virginia native and about to be a sophomore at West Virginia University.
Before her victory today, her best worldwide finish was earlier this year at the World Cup in Munich, where she placed fourth.
She fired her first gun only five years ago.
Carly Fiorina gave her a shout-out on Twitter after the big win.
