GOOD NEWS Uber Driver Returns Wallet With $3K to Passenger Who Just Moved to the U.S.
A Chicago Uber driver gave a man who'd just emigrated from Ukraine the best possible introduction to America.
Jose Figueroa picked up the man from O-Hare International Airport and drove him to a home in suburban River Grove.
After dropping him off, he realized the man forgot his wallet. There was $3,000 inside.
"I mean there was temptation. I'll be honest with you," he told WLS-TV.
But then he remembered the man saying he'd sold his business in Ukraine, and that cash was everything he had.
Jose said that being a Christian, he knew that he couldn't keep the wallet.
"I wanted to make sure I sleep good, so that's what I did. I returned the money and the wallet."
When Jose arrived back at the house, the man's sister started crying.
They invited him for dinner and gave him $100 to show their appreciation.
Uber Chicago's general manager praised Jose, saying "the city of broad shoulders is full of people with kind hearts and honest intentions."
"We are grateful that Jose chooses to partner with Uber," Marco McCottry said.
