Donald Trump has officially been nominated at the Republican Party's candidate for president.

At the Republican National Convention in Cleveland tonight, New York - Trump's home state - push him over the 1,237 delegates necessary to officially be named the candidate.

Donald Trump Jr., flanked by Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany Trump, cast New York's votes for his father.

"We are finally going to put New York in play this time around," Trump Jr. said. "It is my honor to throw Donald J. Trump over the top in the delegate count tonight with 89 delegates."

"Congratulations, dad! We love you!"
