Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has long been an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, and now Sessions is supporting Trump's VP pick, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Sessions, who is Donald Trump's national security advisor, said that Pence has the gravitas and experience for the role.

He pointed out that Pence has a dozen years of experience as a congressman, in addition to the serving as governor of The Hoosier State since 2013.

Sessions noted that Pence had disagreed with Trump on several issues in the past, including trade and illegal immigration, but as more data and information has come in, he's been swayed to Trump's side.

He added that Pence can contribute significantly to Trump's campaign, because he's so articulate, prepared and well-spoken.

"Mike Pence is a man of principle. He's proven that in the House and as governor. He stands up for what he believes in," Sessions said. "I believe that he's not just someone that somebody writes a script for. He's got great qualities and great principles."
