After two robberies in less than three months, a Minnesota gas station owner came up with a unique solution: cheap gas for law enforcement or customers with concealed-carry permits.

Earlier this month, Frank Schwagel, who owns a Shell gas station in Sauk Rapids, posted a sign inside his store that reads, "Gas discount for law enforcement or people with proof of permit to carry. 10 cents per gallon after 7:00 p.m. daily."

Schwagel explained that it was a way to increase store traffic in the evening, so his employees wouldn’t have to be there alone at night.

He said that it's created a big uptick in customers, which is not only great for business, but also makes his employees feel safer.

"It’s working out so far,” Schwagel said. “We have a lot more people coming in at night versus what we used to have. It’s been a good thing so far."
