An Australian power couple who drop their 2-year-old daughter off with her grandmother every weekend received some backlash online.

Australian model and TV host Rachael Finch met her husband when they were paired together on Australia's Dancing With the Stars.

She told Sunday Style magazine that going child-free every weekend helps their relationship and leaves them feeling recharged.

"Every weekend [our daughter Violet] goes to Mish's mum's house, and we get our weekend to ourselves," Finch said. "I think that's incredibly healthy for the relationship. And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100-percent energy back."

But some people are calling the couple's lifestyle is selfish.

"You can't expect to say something like that and not expect people to be outraged," one user wrote. "Kids aren't a part-time deal and should be put first no matter what. What about when they reach school age? Will she never see her children? This sets a really bad example and comes off nothing else but selfish."

User @emma_withers wrote, "I'm all for having a break every now and then but to get rid of your only child from Friday to Sunday every week? That's just ridiculous and selfish."

"Uh. U can't just be a weekday mom!" @lklimek26 wrote.

Finch defended their lifestyle in another Instagram post, saying they know what's best for their own family and that it allows Violet to enjoy a close relationship with her grandmother. A number of people have also rallied to her defense.

"I always stayed with my grandmother growing up. I loved it! My relationship with her was as close as my mothers. Don't ever let others tell you this is is wrong," @ally_petrou wrote.
