Mom's Attempt to Surprise Daughter in College Dorm Goes Hilariously Wrong

A Mississippi mother found her two-year-old daughter dead in the backseat of her car after she forgot to drop her off at a daycare earlier in the day, according to authorities.

The mother thought she had taken her child to Little Footprints Learning Center in Gluckstadt, about 18 miles north of Jackson, before going to work Wednesday, Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker said.

When she returned to pick her up, daycare workers told her she hadn't dropped her off.

Tucker said the mother immediately became distraught, ran to her car and realized the child was still in her car seat.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tucker said it appears to be a tragic accident, and it's still unclear whether or not charges will be filed.

Authorities have not released the name of the child or the parents.
