Talk about awkward!

McKenna Pilling is an 18-year-old freshman at Utah State University.

Her mother, Deanna, decided to make an impromptu visit to campus last week for an early Mother's Day surprise.

Only things didn't work out as planned...

Deanna walked into McKenna's dorm room - or so she thought - and laid down on the bed for about five minutes.

When her daughter didn't appear, Deanna decided to send her a text message with a photo of her smiling on McKenna's bed.

"Look where I am!" her text read.

McKenna knew that her mother wasn't in her bed, because that's where she was!

"Where's that??" McKenna frantically texted back. "I'm in my dorm. Please tell me you're not in someone else's dorm."

"I am in the wrong dorm omg," Deanna texted, before running out of the room.

McKenna posted the hilarious text exchange to Twitter, and it's quickly gone viral with 14,000 retweets and 30,000 likes.

Both mother and daughter got a great laugh out of the awkward situation, so all's well that ends well!
