'All for Show': Ripa, Strahan 'Couldn't Stand Each Other,' Report Says
Morning show pair Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan did not get along behind the scenes and had little direct communication off-camera, according to a new report.
The report from the New York Post, citing show "insiders," comes just days after Strahan announced he would leave "Live! With Kelly and Michael" in favor of ABC's earlier morning show, "Good Morning America."
The Post reports:
The pair “did not get along. It was all for the show,’’ a Ripa source said. “They could not stand each other, and whenever they communicated off-camera, it was always through their reps.”
Strahan was already doing two days a week at “GMA” on top of co-hosting “Live,” and the stress wore on the 6-foot-5 Hall of Fame Giants defensive end, sources said.
“He was having temper tantrums. He’d lose it, yelling at [Ripa] and [“Live” executive producer Michael] Gelman. “He acted like he was in a locker room, not a dressing room.”
However, a source close to Strahan pushed back in the report, saying it's "100 percent not true" that the hosts only talk through their reps.
The source also claimed that Strahan was ordered not to tell Ripa about his impending departure.
Ripa was said to be livid that she was not told before the news broke and has not appeared on the show since then.
She emerged from her New York town house Thursday, making waves with her choice of reading material.

Meantime, Strahan hosted the show Thursday alongside Erin Andrews, seeking to calm the growing controversy.
“I’m very thankful for [Kelly], to her, because I’ve learned so much from her," he said.
