Cheney: Trump 'Way Off Base' With 9/11 Claims, Doesn't Know the Facts
Dick Cheney said on "Special Report" tonight that Donald Trump sounded "like a liberal Democrat" during Saturday's GOP debate when he appeared to blame President George W. Bush for 9/11.
“I lost hundreds of friends. The World Trade Center came down during the reign of George Bush,” said Trump, as the audience broke out into loud boos. “He kept us safe? That’s not safe.”
Cheney said that Trump is wrong and the Republican presidential front-runner is trying to advance his political interests
The former vice president said that Trump is "way off base" and clearly hasn't spent any time learning the facts of that period.
Cheney said that if you're looking to place the blame for 9/11, you need to look at the intelligence failures of the previous administration.
"It's a disappointment, frankly, that he's acting that way," Cheney said. "I think it's misleading for him to campaign on that basis."
