A dog who wandered away from her yard became the unwitting participant of a local half marathon -- and finished seventh place.
Ludivine had been let out by her owner to relieve herself and ended up on the path of runners in the Elkmont Half Marathon in Alabama.
The hound trotted alongside other runners all the way to the finish line.
At the time, owner April Hill had no idea what had happened to Ludivine. She got the news from a friend who passed a picture of Ludivine proudly wearing a medal that had been circulating on Facebook.
“She ran the entire half marathon and finished 7th overall with a time of 1.32.56," the post said.
April told a runners magazine she was surprised Ludivine completed the 13.1 mile course.
"I can't believe she ran the whole half marathon because she's actually really lazy," she said.
UPDATE: April Hamlin joined Fox and Friends this morning to talk more about that amazing day. She said it's "awesome" that her dog has brought recognition to the Elkmont High School cross country team.
