Marco Rubio joined Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" last night to address one of the most important stories of the 2016 race: the controversy surrounding his two-inch-heeled, black zipper boots.

Ever since the Republican presidential contender was spotted wearing the stylish boots earlier this month, he has been mocked by the media and his fellow GOP candidates.

"I only wear them on weekends. Nights mostly," Rubio joked.

Rubio added that the boots are currently "in an undisclosed location, but they'll be used at the appropriate time."

Fallon encouraged the Florida senator to wear the "fashion-forward" boots with pride.

"I think you should bring them back out. Don't let people bully you," Fallon said. "You're Marco Rubio. You can do whatever you want to do. You're running for president!"
