A California shelter dog has been adopted, thanks to adorable photos of him "praying" for a loving forever home.

John Hwang, of La Puente, Calif., took to Facebook to post pictures of Oliver, a two-year-old Chihuahua at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter.

"Every time I tried to get up and move away from the kennel, he’d [get] up on his hind legs and kept putting his paws together, as if he was begging me to help him," Hwang told ABC News. "He would just come right up to the fence and he would do it. I said, 'I got to get a photo of that.'"

The photos were posted to Facebook on January 11, and were quickly shared hundreds of times.

The amazing result? Oliver was adopted into a loving home just several days later on January 14.

"I couldn’t believe the response," Hwang said. "I was getting people messaging me from all over this world asking about the dog. I'm just really happy that this brings more awareness and can change people's attitudes about the shelter animals."

Check out more photos of Oliver's "prayers" below and sound off on this feel-good story in the comments!
