READ: Greta Van Susteren Reflects on Americans Released by Iran
By: Greta Van Susteren
I can't even begin to describe how I felt when I heard the news today ... and you can multiply how I feel by a billion for the family members. An On the Record staff member emailed me this morning that upon learning the news of the release, she wrote that she was almost in tears. Yes, I know that feeling, too.
We have been following the plight of these hostages for a long time. When you follow a story closely for years, you get to know the families very well. I have been in the Michigan home of Amir Hekmati, sat at the kitchen table with his mother, father, sister and brother-in-law where Amir has sat. I have spent time with Pastor Abedini's wife and journalist Jason Rezaian’s brother. These are not just stories to us. These are fellow Americans.
Yes, I am absolutely thrilled.
But one last thing: Please do not forget Former FBI Agent Bob Levinson. I will not. I know his family. I have spent much time with them. Their hearts remain broken. Where is he? Why won't Iran tell us?
Programming alert: Don't miss an On the Record interview with family members of the Americans freed by Iran on Monday at 7 p.m. ET!
