Fiery GOP Candidates Slam Obama Following Gulf Incident: 'The Iranians Like to Taunt Us'
“American sailors. On their knees, hands behind their heads. A female sailor, forced to wear a headscarf, pent up in a jail cell. You know why these things happen? Because they know they can get away with it when Barack Obama’s in office.”
That’s the message Marco Rubio has been delivering on the campaign trail, as he and several other GOP presidential candidates slammed the White House over yesterday’s detainment of 10 U.S. Navy sailors in Iran.
While Chris Christie said at a campaign stop that Iranians “have no respect” for President Obama, Donald Trump told voters that “the Iranians like to taunt us.”
It is not, of course, the first we hear of this sentiment.
But as controversial new video surfaces of a U.S. sailor apologizing to Iranian forces, many across the board have expressed anger that the servicemen were left out of Obama’s final State of the Union address last night.
Former U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. James Roy also weighed in on Your World this afternoon, saying that President Obama should have responded with a strong message.
“Why wasn’t it addressed last night at State of the Union?” he said. “Why was it not said last night that our sailors need to be given back to us, unharmed and immediately?”
