Viral WATCH: Was Jennifer Lawrence Right to Call Out This Distracted Reporter?
— Variety (@Variety) January 11, 2016
Jennifer Lawrence had a few choice words for a reporter at the Golden Globes last night.
A new video from Variety shows the exchange unfolded backstage, as the journalist began to pose his question to the movie star.
“How do you see yourself for the Oscars night?” the reporter asks.
Lawrence cuts him off.
“You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro,” she says, shaking her head.
“You’re just not gonna – you can’t do that. You gotta live in the now.”
The man, not seen on camera, is heard apologizing and laughing nervously. When he repeats the question, however, it appears he still hasn’t gotten on J-Law’s good side.
“We’re at the Golden Globes,” she says curtly. “If you put your phone down, you’d know that.”
Many on Twitter called out Lawrence for what they said looked like bullying.
“The poor guy was trying to read from the phone since English is his not first language and she attack him like vicious dog,” one user commented.
“That was rude,” wrote another.
But Chris Trondsen, who reported live from the press room for Fox 11, defended the star, saying that the exchange had been “lighthearted” and not “rude at all.”
