Judge Nap: Lawyers for CA Shooter's Family Shouldn't 'Minimize' Horrific Massacre
Lawyers representing the family of the male San Bernardino shooter held a press briefing last week cautioning people against characterizing the tragic massacre as a “Muslim” act.
Judge Andrew Napolitano reacted to their statements on "Varney & Co." this morning, calling the conference “PR nonsense” that seemed “very, very ill-advised.”
While the judge said he usually admires lawyers who take on unpopular causes, “it serves no good whatsoever to attempt to minimize, from any perspective – personal, social, philosophical or moral – the horrific acts in which their now-deceased relatives participated.”
By trying to influence public opinion, he added, the attorneys actually “made matters worse.”
At one point, for instance, they brought up a dispute in which a coworker reportedly made fun of shooter Syed Rizwan Farook and his beard.
“Is that supposed to justify slaughter of innocents?” asked Judge Napolitano.
