'Dancing Cop' Fired for Protesting Coffee Server's #BlackLivesMatter Message

It is the dream of 7-year-old Ricky Buzo to grow up and become a police officer.

So when SWAT teams and local officers in Stockton, Calif., surprised him at his birthday party with balloons and a round of cheers, he was ecstatic.

The little boy grinned from ear to ear as he stood dressed in a cop costume and black sunglasses.

“Every birthday is special, but today, it’s a day of freedom,” his mother, Lupe Buzo, told Fox 40.

“Today has changed his life.”

Ricky was born with Hurler syndrome, a rare disease that can slow children from growing and cause heart problems. Doctors predicted that it wouldn’t let him live past age 5.

Officers had heard about the little boy’s story and decided to track him down, Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said.

“We were so impressed by his bravery and what he's been through,” he continued.
