A Seattle news crew ran for cover when shots rang out while they were covering a previous drive-by shooting.

Cameras were rolling as KOMO-TV reporter Kara Kostanich and her photographer were preparing to deliver a report in the Mount Vernon neighborhood.

"So the shots were fired and of course my immediate reaction was just to get down," she said. "As reporters, we're trained to think on our feet and this is an example of doing just that. We heard that gunfire, we ducked behind the truck and we were whisked off to safety."

Kostanich and her photographer weren't harmed and provided statements to the police about the incident.

Authorities found several shell casings along the roadway and a home in the area had bullet damage, KOMO reported.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police at (360) 428-3211.
