A manhunt is underway for a suspect who shot a police officer in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Authorities say that two plainclothes Wauwatosa detectives and a uniformed officer today confronted a suspect, who then opened fire.

One of the officers, a 52-year-old man with 25 years of service, was shot and sustained wounds which are not life-threatening.

Police returned fire, but the suspect fled and remains at large. He is described as a thin black man in his mid-20s who is between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall. Police say he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
