A Texas man died Sunday after being attacked by a swarm of bees, according to authorities.

Police in the town of Soda Springs say that Dee Daugherty, 65, may have accidentally dislodged a plywood wall that kept a large beehive in place while he was mowing his neighbor's lawn.

Daugherty reportedly tried to escape the bees and made it back to his wife who called 911.

A neighbor who tried to help said that Daugherty was terribly swollen in his face and neck.

Emergency crews responded, but Daugherty died on the way to the hospital, 11Alive.com reported.

The station said that the hive has been moved to another location.
