Rick Harrison of the hit reality TV show "Pawn Stars," explained on "Fox and Friends" this morning why he's already supporting Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for president in 2016.

Harrison said he had lunch with Rubio recently in L.A. and their conversation convinced him he should support the first-term senator.

"The entire time I talked to him, all he wanted to talk about was people and he never mentioned the party once. That was a really big deal to me," said Harrison, adding that he believes Rubio "honestly cares about the American people."

In the past, Harrison said that in one-on-one meetings with Republicans or Democrats, all they wanted to talk about was "the party, the party, the party."

He said he plans to hold a birthday fundraiser for Rubio in Las Vegas next week. Harrison noted that Rubio lived in Vegas for a few years as a child, with his dad working as a bartender at a bowling alley and his mom was a hotel maid.

Some have opposed Rubio by arguing that the country does not need another first-term senator and that Republicans should nominate a governor.

Harrison said it comes down to the country needing a "good leader."

"A governor is a politician, a senator is a politician. What you need is a very strong leader. Someone who's willing to speak his mind and put the right people in charge of things and if they do a bad job, fire them," he said.

Harrison pointed to Rubio's strong support of Israel and his views on free enterprise as the main reasons why he wants to see him get to the White House.
