A Florida bus driver is being hailed a hero after getting 20 students off of her bus right before it burst into flames.

The students, ranging from kindergartners to 8th-graders, were on their way to Cape Preparatory and Fitness Academy in Cape Coral on Wednesday.

The bus driver began to smell fumes and immediately pulled the bus over around 7:30 a.m., where she evacuated all the students from the bus.

In just a few short minutes, the whole bus was up in flames and the driver called 911.

Fire officials responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze that created huge clouds of black thick smoke.  Luckily, no injuries were reported.

Hasan Almoumani said that he was taking his daughter to school when he saw the fire and captured it all on camera.

“It was a big fire, it was the biggest fire I’ve ever seen in my life,” Almoumani told WINK. “The scary part, that the whole thing went up in flames in less than two minutes.”

Officials say the fire was caused by a mechanical problem in the engine.
