Hear more from Dr. Ben Carson on "The O'Reilly Factor," tonight at 8/11p ET!

Dr. Ben Carson announced that he has established a presidential exploratory committee for the 2016 election.

Carson, who took fourth place in the 2015 CPAC straw poll with 11.4 percent of the vote, explained in a new video (above) that the committee will examine if he should become a candidate for president of the United States.

"All of us are frustrated with the way Washington has let us down," Carson said. "The career politicians simply don't understand the disappointment, anger and pain in real America."

"If I run, it will be because I know the very survival of our great country depends on strong leadership to address our real concerns about security, about jobs, about America's standing in the world."

Carson said that he has a passion to reach out, listen and build common sense solutions to our nation's problems.

"Rest assured that if I run for president, I will do so with only one goal in mind, and that is to heal and strengthen this great nation."
