Gutfeld: 'Al Jazeera Is Officially Islamophobic'
After an Islamic terror attack in Libya, Al Jazeera English executive Carlos Van Meek emailed his workers, asking them to avoid words like terrorist, Islamist or jihad.
He instructed employees to "avoid characterizing people” and said that "often their actions do the work for the viewer.”
“So there you have it: Al Jazeera is officially Islamophobic,” Greg Gutfeld said this evening. “After all, avoiding the word terrorist for fear of offending viewers implies their viewers see themselves in those actions.”
Van Meek also told employees, "One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter."
Gutfeld questioned that statement.
“I mean, are these jihadists ‘jihadding’ for freedom? Do freedom fighters kill children for watching soccer? I'm thinking maybe we should help Van Meek with some alternative names for terrorists? How about savages? Maniacs? Future executives at Al Jazeera?”
Gutfeld remarked that for some in the media, it’s easier to fight language than terror.
“But maybe the hacks at Al Jazeera avoid the real threat because they don't want to lose their job or their lives. For them, ‘heads will roll’ isn't just a figure of speech.”
