Kerry: 'Our Hearts & Hopes' Are With AirAsia Passengers, Families
The State Department says that the United States stands ready to help in the search for missing AirAsia Flight 8501, which disappeared early Sunday morning.
The flight was carrying 162 people when it lost contact with air traffic control over the Java Sea, en route from Indonesia to Singapore.
Secretary of State John Kerry today tweeted:
Our hearts and hopes are with the passengers and families of AirAsia QZ8501.

The NTSB is also monitoring the situation and is on standby, ready to help if needed.
Indonesia has not yet asked for assistance in the search for the missing plane.
The search-and-rescue mission is set to resume in a few hours after it was halted overnight.
