Charles Kondek (above), who had worked previously for the NYPD, was shot by the suspect and then run over with a car early Sunday in Tarpon Springs.

Kondek had responded at around 3am local time to a complaint about loud music coming from a car.

Marco Antonio Parilla Jr., 24 (below), was arrested after crashing the car as he tried to get away. He is expected to appear in court later today.

WTVT reported:

Police say a car was playing loud music and when officers asked a female passenger to turn it down, she flipped them off. Marco Antonio Parilla Jr. was the driver in the car. Police say he left a party in Pasco County and was going to confront a man he said who ratted him out for a parole violation.

Deputies say Parilla began knocking on doors and at some point when Officer Kondek showed up, he began firing at him. One of the bullets hit the officer above his bullet proof vest. Deputies say as Parilla drove away, he ran over the officer.

Shayla Reaves of WTVT reported the latest details on "Fox and Friends" this morning. She said Parilla's rap sheet includes grand theft, drug trafficking and using a fake name.

Authorities described Parilla as a "caged rat," who attacked the officer because he knew he was going back to prison for violating his parole.
