A puppy born without his front paws can now frolic with his friends, thanks to 3D-printed prosthetics.

Derby was born with severe deformities in his front legs, and his original owners took him to a New Hampshire no-kill shelter.

Tara Anderson, an employee at 3D Systems, fostered the puppy after she heard his story. She and her co-workers teamed up to construct prosthetics—called “elbow cups” – for the playful pooch.

Now, Derby is happily fitted with his elbow cups, which he uses daily on 2-3 mile runs with his new owners, Dom and Sherry Portanova.

“The first time he was put on the prosthetics and he took off running, he was just so happy. I was absolutely amazed,” Sherry Portanova told MyFoxDetroit.
