Charles Krauthammer tonight reacted to the news that President Barack Obama is reportedly planning to call on Congress to lift an embargo on Cuba.

Krauthammer noted that Obama said in 2008 that he would maintain the embargo because it provides the U.S. with leverage. If Cuba took significant steps toward democracy, Obama said that the U.S. would take steps to normalize relations.

“There was not an ounce, there was not an inch, there was a not a suggestion of an opening here. So this is a contradiction,” Krauthammer said.

Krauthammer recalled how Obama refused to support the revolution in Iran in 2009, and Krauthammer said he appears to be relaxing sanctions and “giving away the store” on nuclear weapons.

“Is there no tyrant or anti-American center in the world that Obama will not appease for nothing in return?” he asked.
