A quick-thinking college student came to the rescue of a 92-year-old man trapped in a sinking car this week.

Alton Brieske was having lunch in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Wednesday when a car plunged into the water. That’s when the 21-year-old student dove into action.

Brieske shouted for a hammer, and luckily, a bystander had one. He used the hammer to break the car’s window, then pulled the man out as water rushed into the vehicle.

Brieske said he’s not a hero – he was just in the right place at the right time.

“Our real heroes are our soldiers and our police and firefighters who do this stuff every day," he said.

The college student hopes to one day become an emergency room physician.
