Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) was “On The Record” tonight to discuss the defense bill which passed the Senate tonight, although Lee voted “no.”

Lee said it’s a problem that the 1,600-page bill went to floor without a public committee hearing.

“This is not a defense bill, it is a hodgepodge grab bag of goodies for members of Congress,” Lee said.

Greta Van Susteren asked Lee if he has a problem with legislation being voted on that hasn’t been read.

“Absolutely, I think it’s malpractice, I think it’s legislative malpractice […] we shouldn’t vote for something that we haven’t read or at least we haven’t skimmed through and had our staff read so that we understand the whole of what’s in it,” he said.
