Police and locals in Parkville, Missouri, went out of their way to bring some Christmas cheer to an elderly woman.

One officer, Nicholas Pence, said he's been checking in on 87-year-old Edwina Hughes since the summer and that she never really asks them for anything besides a soda or a snack.

In a recent visit, he asked what she wanted for Christmas and Edwina said a tree and some KFC would be nice.

So the officers decided to do just for her, since Edwina could not afford Christmas decorations.

She was moved to tears when they surprised her by bringing her a tree, with lights, along with a hot meal. They're also planning to get her some dining room chairs.

Pence said Edwina deserves it because "she will give anything she has for anybody."
