Medical Mystery: 12-Year-Old Iowa Boy Loses Sense of Hunger & Thirst
It’s a medical mystery that has advice pouring in from around the world: a 12-year-old Iowa boy has lost his sense of hunger and thirst.
The Des Moines Register reported the story of Landon Jones, who woke up last October having lost the urge to eat or drink. Doctors diagnosed Jones with a bacterial lung infection, which was treated, but his appetite and thirst did not return.
The 12-year-old has dropped from 104 pounds to a skeletal 68.
His parents have to remind him to eat and drink.
Suggestions are streaming in from around the globe as to what might be plaguing the boy since his story gained nationwide attention.
